How To Order

The best way to ensure you get exactly what you want is to discuss your commission with me via ‘phone or email.

Here are a few things to consider:

Photographs

I work from photographs, so you will need to provide me with good quality pictures. It is best not to use a flash if possible, as this can deaden the colours. Try to get as close as possible, particularly if you want a head and shoulder picture.

It’s good to have a couple of different photos to give me as true an impression of character, colouring etc. These can be sent via post or email and will be returned on completion of your portrait.

Pencils/ oils

Please have a look at the gallery page to see examples of pencil drawings and oil paintings.
Pencil pictures are drawn in graphite pencils on high quality paper.
Oil pictures are painted on canvas. They take longer as the paint is built up in layers and needs a certain amount of drying time.

Depending on the size and complexity, drawings will usually be ready within three weeks of my receipt of your photos, and paintings within five. If you have an urgent order, let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you.

Framing

Pictures are not framed. There is such a wide range of frames available; it is best to go to your local framer to choose yours. Glass will protect pencil drawings but oil paintings do not need to be behind glass.
I am happy to offer some guidance if you are unsure of what you need.

Payment

Once I’ve finished your picture I’ll send you a scanned copy for approval. Your picture will be sent via special delivery on receipt of payment, which can be by cheque or paypal.
